Fred Poses

Hi Victor,

I'm working on the Fred poses, and would like to see if I'm heading in the right direction.  I have not started transitioning yet, so this is just a video of the 3 still poses I chose: #31, #23, and #8.

I also still need to shape the eyes better.  I'd also like your advice on the geo clashing, especially in the outer SL eyebrow on my last pose (it's creating a weird crease).  I'm trying to get those extremes but the rig only likes to go so far, it seems.

Thank you!!

  1. Hi Jamie, these are looking good. I think the expressions are working well, though you could get a bit closer to matching Fred's proportions (length of top lip and chin, size of eyes, etc.). In my tests I ended up scaling his "ctlEyeLf" and "ctlEyeRt" down to .85. This shrinks his eyes more like the drawings and gives the brows a bit more room to move. The controls for these are found in the Picker on the medium blue boxes at his ears. I've found there's not much you can do about the brow creasing. It's lust a limitation of the rig, so unless you want to go in and sculpt it you'll have to live with it. By the way, if you could include the sketch image in the camera and playblast as an image plane that would make judging the poses easier. Thanks!

    1. Thanks, Victor! I'll be sure to incorporate more of his proportions.

I'm also trying to figure out the best way to put the images in Maya, because they're a little blurry on my end. Technology always hates me. :P I'll figure something out!

      Thanks again,
      Jamie

    2. That's weird; I wonder why that would be. Are they only blurry in the playblast? Could it be that your render settings are too low rez? I set mine to 1920 x 1080.
